AWP uses the arts to raise awareness and educate the public about significant human rights and environmental issues. Our first project with AWP involved the promotion of Darfur/Darfur, a traveling exhibit of photographs from renowned photojournalists highlighting the culture and crisis in Darfur. The Compound’s role involved developing an online presence (www.darfurdarfur.org) and then raising awareness of the exhibit through compelling collateral materials. The exhibit continues to grow, with successful events in nearly thirty cities worldwide. Many of the events garner thousands of visitors and the website receives well over 100,000 unique visitors annually from all over the world. The result: A growing awareness that the crisis in Darfur has not abated.
We continue helping AWP grow, developing campaigns to promote crisis awareness in the DR Congo and will be launching an awareness campaign on the ruby trade in Burma with innovative collateral and community-based events beginning Q2 of 2010.
Art works. Pass it on.
